Weekly Match Report
Sunday 16th November
Hillfield Swifts Blue 3 v 2 Hutchison ValeSunday’s visitors to Ballast Bank were Hutchison Vale and this promised to be a stern test for the boys today. The game started with flowing football from both teams creating chances at both ends. The Swifts took the lead half-way through the first half when Hayden latched on to a long ball through the middle and coolly slipped the ball under the advancing goalie. They then increased their lead when Liam added a second goal a couple of minutes later. The Swifts then scored a third in the second half with what was probably the best team goal they have scored all season. The move was started from deep inside their own half when Aiden played the ball out to Ross who carried this up the wing, then deliver a pin point cross to Jack who controlled the ball before swiveling to place the ball in the corner of the net. Hutchison Vale kept pressing and were rewarded with two goals near the end, one of them that Cammy was unlucky not to turn round the post.
Another good result for the boys; great team effort.
EDINBURGH CITY 4-3 HILLFIELD SWIFTS YELLOW
We traveled through to Edinburgh to play Edinburgh City, The games between these clubs have always been close, and there was certainly no change today!
Hillfield started the game well and the great passing paid off as Wallace got the better of the City’s keeper and slotted in the first goal of the match. Edinburgh City answered straight back with their no 8 scoring a great goal to make it 1-1.All within 6 minutes of play! Again this was end to end football and Edinburgh City scored another from a corner to make it 2-1. Hillfield played some amazing football with some great one, two's down the left side and this paid off for them as Regan managed to beat the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net.2-2.
Again Hillfield played well and the Edinburgh Cities keeper had a lot of work to do denying Oran a goal from a great strike.
Edinburgh City weren’t lying down and came back up the park making the first half score 3-2.
Second Half
Edinburgh City brought the game to Hillfield and they scored within the first minute of the second half. This made Hillfield hungry and displayed some great attacking football. The team was denied on numerous occasions by the woodwork. Eventually Oran smashed the ball in the back of the net making it 4-3. Callum missed a great opportunity to level the game he done all the hard work, even rounded the keeper, but it wasn’t to be. Hillfield played outstanding, attacking football and perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result. This game was a great advert for youth football.
Final Score 4-3
